Home Design, Inc. is recalling all sizes of the Part Number 80002 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed, Part Number 80032 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed, Part Number 80071 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Bed, Part Number 80053 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Bed, and the king size Part Number 80055 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed.

Home Design Inc. has voluntarily undertaken this recall effort and strongly encourages you to participate. We are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as a partner in this process.
|
|
The recalled beds can break, sag or collapse during use, posing fall and injury hazards to consumers. Home Design Inc. has received 128 reports of the beds breaking, sagging, or collapsing, including 36 injuries.

To register for a repair kit, please email Home Design, Inc. at recall@homedesign-us.com and provide:

- A photo of the bed or a copy of the proof of purchase
- A photo of the law label on the back of the headrest
- Your name and mailing address
|
Once Home Design, Inc. confirms that you have one of the recalled beds, the company will send you a repair kit free of charge. We are recalling the following models: Part Number 80002 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed, Part Number 80032 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed, Part Number 80071 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Bed, Part Number 80053 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Bed, and the king size Part Number 80055 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed. Different retailers may have used different model numbers or model names for these beds.

How do I know if my bed is affected by the recall?

The Part Number for the bed is printed on the assembly instructions you received with your bed, and was also on the packaging. The Part Number should also be in the email order confirmation you received from the retailer. You can email us a picture of the bed, and the law label on the back of the headboard to recall@homedesign-us.com to confirm whether your bed is affected by the recall.

Why is Home Design Inc. Recalling these beds?
|
|
|
We are recalling these beds because we have received reports of the beds breaking, sagging or collapsing during use.
|
|
|
Have there been any injuries associated with the beds?
|
|
|
Yes. We have received approximately reports of injuries.
|
|
|
What is Home Design, Inc. doing to make this right?
|
|
|
We are providing free repair kits that consist of new side rails and slats, as well as new hardware. We have tested these kits to make sure that they are effective in making the beds safe.

How do I install the free repair kit?
|
|
|
Your repair kit will come with detailed written assembly instructions. If you need another copy, please go to the link above. We also have videos of the repair linked above. If you have questions about how to assemble the repair kit, you can also call us, toll free, at at 833-383-2967 Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm EDT. If you are still unable to, or uncomfortable, with assembling the repair kit, please call us at this number. We will either provide in-home installation assistance or reimburse you for up to $75 for documented in-home installation assistance.

My bed seems fine, can I still use it?

We urge you to stop using the bed and take part in the recall by registering for the free repair kit.

Do I still need to use a box spring after installing the repair kit?
|
|
|
If you have one of the following model beds, you must continue using a box spring: 80002, 80032, and 80055.
